Take Me Away, Five-Thousand, Seven-Hundred and Seventy-Four Miles Away From Here, Take Me Away…
Today we flew to Bangkok. It was my first ever trip overseas. Aunty Sam drove us to the airport and then we had drinks at the bar with Sandra and Teri who were there to see us all off. GM Linda and Wendy were coming also. This is a photo of us having drinks. It was taken shortly before Aunty Nat arrived:
Unfortunately it took a little bit longer than my last flight and Mum and Dad gave me this ridiculous bouncer thing to sleep in. I’m not sure what they were thinking – it was my bedtime and all I wanted to do was roll onto my belly and sleep – which of course was impossible in the ridiculous bouncer thing. Needless to say I didn’t get much sleep and as you can see in my picture with Wendy by the time we reached Bangkok I was absolutely shattered.
Thailand looked different, smelt different and definitely felt different. It was so warm that Mum and Dad stripped me down to my underwear right outside the new Bangkok Airport – How embarrassing! They even made me check into the Holiday Inn wearing nothing more than my dirty nappy and a singlet. Luckily I was really too tired to care.
It felt like we had just got to sleep when Mum woke us all up for breakfast. Scrambled eggs and banana bread – yum!
