Phi Phi for Me Me

June 16, 2007

Today we traveled by public ferry to Phi Phi Island. We were heading to the Phi Phi Island Village Resort which is where Mummy and Daddy got married. I was so excited because they had told me that they had planted a tree as part of their wedding ceremony and that it symbolised the growth of their lives together and our family (I think I am part of that growth). I couldn’t wait!

Daddy got sick on the ferry but before he did we had this photo taken together. Shortly after this photo was taken it began to rain and the water got really choppy.

Unfortunately the public ferry only went so far and then it stopped a short distance from the PPIV Resort. From there we had to take a long tail which is a much smaller boat. Although it was my first time on a long tail I didn’t really enjoy it. It was way past my lunch time and I needed my lunch time sleep so badly. I tried so hard to smile for the camera but you know how it is…

It was so good to finally be there. Mummy and Daddy had booked a hillside pool villa and it was the same one they had stayed in on their wedding night! Our guest relations officer was Ta. She was so beautiful. Here we are together in the buggy going up the hill to our room:

During our stay Ta would organise all of my baby sisters and would even bring afternoon tea every day at 2.00pm.

I fell in love with PPIV Resort. It had a beautiful big bath for my night bath which was outside. One night it sprinkled rain but I didn’t mind. Most nights daddy got in with me. Here we are bathing together one night in the rain:

Our room had its own pool with a spa. I loved it when Daddy would throw me in the air just like a rag doll. Luckily he usually caught me.

Because it was our very own pool for our stay we got to swim with no bottoms. Can you believe it?

There was one very disappointing thing about PPIV Resort. Mummy and Daddy’s tree had gone. It seems that the resort moved it so that they could build a new restaurant. Mummy and Daddy were so upset because they said it symbolised something very important to them. They had wanted to get a photo of our new family together with our tree and it was gone. The resort assured us it was still there - hopefully next time we visit we can locate it and make it all better.

All too soon it was time to leave Phi Phi Island. Unfortunately the day we chose to go was a particularly rough day at sea. We had a very rough crossing back to Phuket and there were times when we were sure the boat was going to sink. Poor Mamma was vomiting the whole time into little plastic bags and we were all holding on for our lives. GM Linda was the only one who didn’t get sick so she looked after me. Everyone seemed to find this amazing as apparently she is usually the first to get sick. Just to give a sense of how big the seas were - a particularly big wave hit the boat on one side and smashed through one of the windows.
